Abstract
1,188,005. Valves. ZENTRA ALBERTA BURKLE K.G. 7 July, 1967 [11 July, 1966], No. 31456/67. Heading F2V. A multi-way mixing cock, for use in heating installations, comprises a housing having a cylindrical chamber 12 therein, the chamber communicating with four ducts 16, 17, 18 and 19 through corresponding apertures 20, 21, 22 and 23 formed in the chamber wall, and having rotatable therein a plate-like closure member 25, rotation of this member being effected manually or automatically. Extending from the two extreme ends and on one side of the member 25 are two curved vanes 30, 31, of which each vane is generally U-shaped, with the inner sides of its upright limbs being contoured, (as at 37, 39, Fig. 3, not shown), and the limbs being joined by a portion which is fixed to the closure member 25. The vanes serve to provide a control of flow from a given inlet to a given outlet, which control has a linear, or other desired, dependency on the position of the closure member 25. The arrangement permits ducts 17 and 19 to provide connections for the heating supply fluid and boiler return fluid and ducts 16 and 18 for the boiler supply fluid and heating return fluid. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 9-15, not shown), the cock is provided with three ducts, there being no connection for the boiler return fluid, the regulation of fluid being effected by a similar plate-like closure member 25. In a still further modification, the closure member 25, instead of being provided with vanes 30 and 31, has imparted thereto a rigid profile, the profile taking the form of doming of the member. As with the vanes, the doming at each end of the member is formed on the same side of the closure member.
