Abstract

1,030,511. Valves. KARBER, WEBER & CIE ARMATURENFABRIK UND METALLGIESSEREI A.G. March 4, 1963, No. 8520/63. Heading F2V. A mixing valve has a longitudinal casing 11, Fig. 1, into the opposite ends of which open cold and hot water inlets 12, 13; the centre of the casing forms a mixing chamber 14 which embodies an outlet, not shown. The flow of water from each inlet to the chamber 14 is controlled by opposed valves, each consisting of a seat 15, an axially-movable closure-member 16, a valve stem 18, a valve stem guide 20, and a spring 21. The inner ends of the stems 18 engage a control member 19, the position of which determines the position of the closure member 16. The control member 19 is of frusto-conical shape mounted upon an axis a (Fig. 2, not shown) which is angularly displaced from the cone axis k. The quantity and temperature of water at the outlet is determined by two knobs 28, 31 which control the rotary and axial movements, respectively, of the member 19. The outer knob 31 may be replaced by a slotted screw head inside the inner knob 28. In a modification, the periphery of the control member is provided with an axial groove having a maximum depth at the upper end of the member and zero depth at the opposite end. Rotation of the control member firstly opens the cold water valve and then both gradually closes the latter and opens the hot water valve. Stops may be provided to limit the rotation of the control member.
