Abstract

1,187,984. Phenolic resin compositions. NORTON CO. 20 April, 1967 [16 May, 1966], No. 18194/67. Heading C3R. [Also in Divisions C1 and C4] Compositions for the manufacture of abrasite wheels comprise a phenol-formaldehyde resin and abrasive particles having a coating of metal of m.p. above 500‹ F, the volume of the coating being 10-70% that of the coated particles. In typical Example 1 the composition consisted of silver and nickel coated diamond, furfural, silicon carbide, lime and powdered phenolformaldehyde novalak containing hexamethylene tetramine. Copper and cobalt are used in other examples.
