Abstract
1437471 Abrasive compositions; abrasive wheels GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 16 May 1973 [30 June 1972] 23383/73 Heading C4V An abrasive composition comprises a matrix containing a resinous material, 10-30% by volume of cubic boron nitride abrasive particles spaced throughout the matrix and being nickel-coated and 10-30% by volume of metal-encapsulated lubricant particles, the metal being nickel, copper and/or cobalt, the particles being spaced throughout the matrix, the volume proportions being based on the total volume of the matrix, the abrasive particles and the encapsulated lubricant. The lubricant particles may be of molybdenum disulphide which may be coated with palladium. Other lubricants such as graphite, soft hexagonal boron nitride, paraffin, and beeswax are also specified. An exemplified composition contains 37À5% phenolic resin bond, 41À43% by volume of cubic boron nitride coated with nickel, 19À57 % nickel-encapsulated molybdenum sulphide and 1À50% by volume of furfural wetting agent. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,348,619.
