Abstract
1,186,782. Let-off motions. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 13 April, 1967 [13 April, 1966], No. 17031/67. Heading DIE. In a loom having two or more warp beams and a let-off motion including a differential gear to balance the torque applied to the beams to maintain equal thread tension in both beams, the motion includes a gear train of other than 1:1 ratio so that if, e.g. beams of a different width are being used, the total torque applied to each beam is different and thus the tension in each individual thread on both beams is the same. In Figure 1 a sun and planet gear motion 31, let off by an axially movable worm, has its planet gears 25, 26, 28, 29 arranged to give a ratio of 2:1 so that when beams 3, 4 are let off the casing 21 is caused to rotate, because of the ratio, and twice as much torque is delivered, at the same speed, to beam 4, which is twice the width of beam 3, and thus all threads are tensioned equally. In Figure 3 (not shown) the sun and planet tram has a ratio of 1:1 and a gear tram of ratio 2:1 is interposed in the drive to the beams. In Figure 5 (not shown) equal width beams are let off at different tensions by a sun and planet tram of 1:1 ratio and an interposed tram of other than 1:1 ratio. In Figure 7 (not shown), a beam 84 is let off by a 1:1 ratio sun and planet tram 106 which drives a second 1:1 ratio sun and planet tram 151, by a chain and sprocket of other than 1:1 ratio, so that the tram 151 is able to equalise the torque between two beams 133, 134 and thus the individual thread tension on all three beams is the same. The tram 151 may be of other than 1:1 ratio if the beams 133, 134 are of unequal width.
