Abstract

1,186,344. Electric blankets. J. FLETCHER. 3 April, 1967 [23 March, 1966], No. 12724/66. Heading H5H. An electric blanket is produced by laying a resistance heating element 16 on one surface of a non-woven fibrous material 10, laying a second non-woven fibrous layer 10 over the element, and pressing the two layers together after applying adhesive to the areas not covered by the element 16. Heat may be applied to cure the adhesive and the layer 10 is initially positioned on pins 14 on a jig 12. The non-woven fibrous material is produced by needling a web of fibres. A woven scrim may cover the non- woven material. One or both the layers may have one layer of reinforcing threads laid in a particular direction or two layers of reinforcing threads laid in directions at right angles to each other. The fibres of the layer 10 are preferably laid at right angles to the fibres of the layer 20.
