Abstract

1,185,942. Mechanical switches; switch contacts. A.B. ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS Ltd. 25 Oct., 1968 [10 May, 1968], No. 22356/68. Heading H1N. In an electric switch of the type comprising groups of fixed contacts arranged on a stator 1 to be connected together in pairs by one or more movable contacts 19 carried by a rotor 3, a spindle 6 for rotating rotor 3, and indexing means 15, 16 comprising co-operating parts on rotor 3 and on a housing 2 solid with stator 1, rotor 3 is formed as an integral one-piece moulding comprising spindle 6, a supporting disc 8 for movable contacts 19, disc 8 including a plurality of integral pips 14 spaced therearound for locating movable contacts 19, rotor 3 further comprising integral indexing forms 15 for cooperating with a detent 16 to constitute the indexing means. As shown, the fixed contacts 23, 29, Figs. 3, 4, 5, 5a, 6, 6a (not shown) form an inner and outer ring, the contacts in the inner and outer rings being bridged by the movable contacts 19. The fixed contacts are in the form of taps extending through and staked to stator 1. A stop 18, integrally moulded on the rotor 3 co-operates with stops 17 on casing 2 to limit the rotation of rotor 3. Each movable contact 19 is loosely mounted on disc 8 being located radially and circumferentially by engagement with locating pips 14 and axially located by being between disc 8 and stator 1. There may be up to four movable contacts 19. Casing 2 is secured to stator 1 by taps 12 which are deformed to stake them into position.
