Abstract
1,185,741. Gas sample enrichment device. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 18 April, 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 17644/67. Heading B1L. A gas sample enrichment device consists of a body member 11 defining a central chamber 13, spaced gas sample inlet and outlet ports 18, 19, carrier gas outlets 26, 27, and gas filters 14, 15. Part of the carrier gas, together possibly with some of the entrained sample gas, passes through the gas filters to provide an effluent-enriched sample stream at reduced pressure leaving through the gas sample outlet 19. The gas sample inlet and outlet ports 18, 19 may be separately replaceable means sealed to the body member; the sample outlet port may be smaller than the sample inlet port to maintain a pressure differential between them. The filters are suitably silver membrane or glass frit. The device is of particular application between a gas chromatograph and a mass spectrometer detecting the effluent therefrom.
