Locking nuts.-In means for locking nuts used for securing bearing races on their shafts &c., the nut 4 is formed with a screwed conical sleeve 5 on which is screwed a conical lock-nut, the sleeve having one or more transverse slots 7 and longitudinal slots 8 so as to form spring tongues extending around the circumference.
