Locking nuts.-A lock-nut c of the kind having a conical portion d fitting into a recess b of slightly wider conicity in the main nut a is made with a cylindrical outer portion c<1> adapted to fit into a slightly wider cylindrical end b<1> of the recess b in the main nut a; the lock-nut is also made with a longitudinal split g and partial longitudinal slots h. The main nut is made with a number of spanner notches e, and the lock-nut with one or more similar notches f. A ring or a portion of a ring m provided with projections n adapted to fit into both notches e and f is provided to couple the two nuts together for screwing or unscrewing them simultaneously. The locking is performed by a further screwing of the lock-nut alone after the main nut has been screwed home, or by a slight unscrewing of the main nut alone followed by a simultaneous screwing home of both nuts simultaneously.
