Abstract
1,182,914. Pipe couplings. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 8 Jan., 1969, No. 1225/69. Heading F2G. A pipe termination 22 for joining a pipe to a threaded spigot 10 has a threaded part 38 and carries a rotatable threaded member 34 adapted to threadedly engage the spigot to draw the termination axially of the spigot into joining relation therewith, the part 38 carrying a locking member 40 adapted to prevent unwanted rotation of the member 34 when the latter is in engagement with the spigot. The thread 35 of the nut and the threaded part 38 are of different hand and the threaded part may be of a finer pitch than that of the thread 35. As shown, the nut 34 has a flange 36 to engage a flange 32 of the termination 22 the latter also being provided with a part-spherical surface 30 for fluidsealing with the frusto-conical surface 20 of the spigot.
