Abstract

118,214. Greene, M. H., and Ellingham, H. A. Dec. 13, 1917. Receiving-devices for doors. - A house or like door a, Fig. 1, is provided with a receiving-device for goods and parcels comprising a receptacle c, which is supported on a bracket f and is arranged opposite a verticaly-sliding shutter d adapted to close an opening b in the door. The shutter d is adapted to be secured in its closed position by a pivoted catch l engaging a projection h on the shutter. The catch l is arranged to hold the projection h above its locking position unless the shutter d is forcibly depressed by means of a knob k. In a modification, the shutter d is locked in its closed position by a bolt l<1>, Fig. 6, acted upon by a spring l<6>. When a spring-controlled retaining-piece l<8> is moved aside by hand, the knob l<7> of the bolt is released, thus enabling the spring l<6> to turn the bolt and to press it into its locking position.
