Abstract

The bolt mechanism of the parent specification is modified in that the block 22 is made of a resiliently deformable material and has an underneath surface 34, 34 attachable to a flat surface of an openable member 33 or to a stationary structure 39 of a configuration such that when the block is placed in abutment with the flat surface, it will only touch the latter either at an intermediate portion in the length of the block or adjacent end portions thereof, the underneath portion or portions of the block being spaced from the flat surface whereby when the block is secured to the surface the underneath surface of the block will tend to be deformed thereby causing the surface on which the bolt 23 slides to be deformed to an arcuate shape and hence impede the sliding movement of the bolt along the block. As shown, a single strip 40 comprising a deformable metal strip is inserted in the groove of the bolt 23 such that in the retracted position of the bolt, the stop engages the end face 38 of the block 22, and in the shot position of the bolt, engages the end face 41 of the block 21. The block 21, which may be made of the same material as that of the block 22, may be secured to a rebate in the structure 39.
