Abstract

1,179,726. Container closures. MERCO TYRE & RUBBER CO. PTY. Ltd. 7 Feb., 1967 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 5737/67. Heading B8T. A closure for an intravenous fluids bottle comprises a pierceable resilient disc 9 with at least two shallow cavities 14, which may be tubular, as shown, or saucer-shaped, leaving easily pierceable diaphragms 15, and an opencentre clamping sleeve 12 screwed on to the bottle neck 10. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), a locating projection on the inner side of the disc is provided to lie within the bottle neck. Also, Figs. 5-8 (not shown), an extra cavity (18) may be provided, opening to the lower face of the disc.
