Abstract

1,179,226. Offset-printing machines; dampening units. MATH. BAUERLE G.m.b.H. 17 April, 1968 [17 April, 1967], No. 18247/68. Heading B6C. In an offset machine an axially reciprocable drum 8 is supplied with dampening liquid from a container 1 and ink from a fountain 6. The container comprises a readily replaceable unit in the form of a closed compartment 1a and an open compartment 1b which may easily be placed on the bottom wall of the container when the wall is swung downwardly into the position of Fig. 2. The offset blanket cylinder 11, the plate cylinder 10 and the dampening and inking roller trains may be cleaned in situ by replacing the container 1 with a similar container of cleaning fluid.
