Abstract

1,178,062. Electric incandescent lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 11659/67. Heading H1F. In an incandescent lamp comprising a glass or other vitreous material envelope 1 enclosing a coiled filament 2, the filament is supported by a member 8 at a point intermediate its ends, the member extending through an opening 11 in the wall of the envelope and having a portion 10 outside the wall enclosed in a sealed chamber 12 and of such dimensions that it cannot pass through the opening. The part 10 may be wound into a coil. The invention may be applied to double-ended lamps as shown or to single-ended lamps with a V-shaped filament both ends of which are sealed in a single pinch. The chamber 12 may be formed from the exhaust tube.
