Abstract

1,177,549. Glass runs. COMPAGNIE FINANCIERE ET COMMERCIALE. 5 Dec., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966; 4 Aug., 1967], No. 55263/67. Heading E1J. A one piece closed window frame, for sliding windows is formed from a planar extrusion 2, Fig. 1 of thermoplastics, reinforced if desired by a slotted metallic plate 1, and provided with ribs or strips 3 coated with velvet or other fibre material, so positioned that when the strip 2 is formed into a single or double channel section, the strips 3 are positioned to bear against the panes 16 and 17 function as sealing strips, there being also on the opposite side of the strip 2 intermediate ribs or strips 4 which contact the surrounding walls of the window aperture, and may be an end strip which covers the junction between the window frame and the wall it is mounted on. The mounting is effected by providing a bent back flange 12, forming a hook-shaped detail which clips over the inwardly directed arm of the wall surrounding the aperture. This portion of the frame together with its associated strip 3 may be a strip separate from the rest of the frame and clips over a barred portion of the reinforcement 1 and the inwardly directed arm of the frame to secure them both together. For vertical sliding windows a slot is provided in the bottom rail of the frame for the window to pass therethrough into e.g. the hollow panel of a vehicle door (Fig. 14 not shown). For fixed panes, the sealing strips 3 take on the formed of flat ribbed protrusions to engage the glass - (Figs. 16 - 18 not shown).
