Abstract
1,177,486. Vibrating conveyer. REYNOLDS METAL CO. 6 Dec., 1966, No. 54615/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Division C7] Granulated metal, produced by atomization of a melt fed through nozzle 24 and solidification in chamber 20, is discharged from chamber 20 by vibrating conveyer 27 into annular trough 35, then is lifted by vertical helical vibratory conveyer 32 to trough 38 through oxidizing chamber 31. Alternatively, the granulated metal may be fed downwards through a gravity spiral conveyer. In either case the spiral of the conveyer is interrupted by a series of steps, over which the granulated metal cascades, so as to be exposed to gas from pipe 40. Both conveyer 27 and conveyer 32 may be electromagnetically actuated.
