Abstract

1,177,078. Textile treating apparatus. COURTAULDS Ltd. 9 May, 1967 [10 May, 1966], No. 20629/66. Heading D1L. In applying a fluid treatment medium to a tow of filamentary material, tow 1 is fed via rollers 2 below the surface of a liquid 4 in a treatment bath 3 and is passed within the treatment bath over at least one slot or series of holes 7 disposed substantially at right angles to the direction of movement of the tow, through which slot or series of holes is fed the fluid treatment medium under pressure, and is removed from the bath 3 via rollers 5. The slots or holes 7 can be provided in curved housings 6 mounted on a perforated plate 8 fitted to a distributing trough 9 having an inlet 10 for pressurised liquid treatment medium. A further set of curved housings 12 with slots 11 may be positioned on the other side of the tow as shown in dotted lines. The housings are preferably formed from a polyacetal resin to resist corrosion in the bath and to resist abrasion by the passage of tow.
