Abstract

1,176,666. Heavy-current switches. DORMAN & SMITH Ltd. 6 Dec., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 57304/66. Heading H1N. A fused multiphase switch comprising, for each current path, a pair of stationary contacts 17, 18, and a pair of movable contacts 27, 28, connected by a fusible link 38, is provided with a plurality of parallel current paths for each pole or phase, e.g. three parallel current paths for each phase. Either the stationary contacts 17, 18 (as shown) or the movable contacts 27, 28, are self-aligning. A holder 13 for each set of three stationary contact pairs has an insulating lamina 32 with apertures 33 through which pass the movable contacts 27, 28. All the movable contacts are mounted on a frame 22, 23, mounted on parallel motion linkages 21 and movable rectilinearly towards the stationary contacts via a handle mechanism 25, 26, on the lockable door 11 of the switch casing 10. Insulating shields 34 prevent access to the stationary contacts when door 11 is open. Each phase has a common fusible link 38 or three fusible links. A neutral conductor 15 has terminals 16 and a holder 14.
