Abstract
1,176,591. Stamping. S.M.G. SUDDEUTSCHE MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 11 July, 1968 [15 July, 1967], No. 33231/68. Heading B3Q. During drawing a workpiece 4 against the pressure of fluid in a chamber 1, a region of the workpiece is sealed off from the fluid to reduce the area on which the fluid acts and thus the force opposing the drawing ram 3. As shown, the area exposed to the fluid is reduced by a piston 13 having a seal 11 for engaging the workpiece and a passage 12 to accommodate leakage. The piston 13 also serves as an ejector, the ram 3 being guided in a cylinder 9 which bears on a hold-down 2.
