1,176,449. Coated flexible sheet material. N. K. SYNTHETIC PAPER MFG. CO. Ltd. 24 May, 1968 [25 May, 1967; 28 Nov., 1967; 30 Dec., 1967], No. 24822/68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Sheets of oriented polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride optionally containing ABS resin, and oriented polyethylene terephthalate are coated by an air knife coater with a composition comprising 100 parts by weight of pigment, 15 to 30 parts by weight of anionic synthetic resinous emulsion, 0.15 to 3.0 parts by weight of a heat-sensitive coagulating agent, and 0.75 to 4.5 parts by weight of a non-ionic surfactant together with, if desired, 2 to 20 parts by weight of satin white. Part of the resin emulsion may be replaced by a water-soluble adhesive, e.g. casein. Exemplified pigments are clay and titanium dioxide and the exemplified resin is butadiene-methyl methacrylate copolymer.
