Abstract
1,176,235. Aluminium alloys. REVERE COPPER & BRASS Inc. April 24, 1967 [April 26, 1966], No. 18677/67. Heading C7A. An extrudable free-machining Al-base alloy consists, by weight, of:- Zn 3.55-4.05% Mg 0.95-1.25% Pb and/or Bi 0.3-2.5% Cu 0-1% Mn 0-1% Cr 0-0.5% Fe/Si impurities up to 1% Al - balance. Tests involve sequences of billet homogenizing at 815‹ -865‹ F., extruding with or without colddrawing, solution treating at 950‹ F. followed by water quenching, and then ageing at ambient temperature. The alloy is however stated to attain its optimum properties without solution treatment.
