Abstract

1,175,892. Stud and socket fastenings. MIDLAND-ROSS CORP. 3 March, 1967 [11 March, 1966], No. 10l90/67. Heading E2B. Apparatus for anchoring a cargo container to a support, comprises an insert 3 adapted for attachment to a support 5 and having an elongated slot 38 and a top wall 36 thereof, the slot having a wider part 39 an anchor fixture 2, comprising an upper body portion 7 adapted to engage a corner of the container and a lower member 20 adapted to interlock with the slot 38 in the insert, the lower member 20 comprising a shank 21 and a cross-head 22 supported thereby, and of greater dimensions than the width of the slot 38. As shown, the portion 39 receives the cross-head 22 and the body portion 7 is formed with sides 8, 9 and 10, 11, which merge into a pyramid formation, the portion 7 being received in a hollow tiedown casting 49 fixed to the corner of the container. In another arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown) the anchor fixture is L-shaped for positioning the container and a locking key (67) engageable with a corner casting (68) is provided to lock the container to the support U.S. Specification 3,125,965 is referred to.
