Abstract

1,174,671. Transistor pulse dividing circuits. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 3 May, 1967, No. 20500/67. Heading H3T. A pulse halving circuit comprises a pair of transistors TRA, TRB and a pair of relays PA, PB, each relay having only a single make contact, the interconnections between the transistors and relays comprising only diodes and resistors. Assume initially both transistors TRA, TRB are cut-off, and both relays PA, PB are de-energized. An input signal, provided by closure of a switch XI, connects earth to the emitter of transistor TRA to render it conductive, and relay PA operates to close contact PA1 putting earth on the output line OP. Opening X1 removes the earth from the base of TRB allowing it to become conductive and energize relay PB which locks in over contact PB1. 1. Closure of PB1 also cuts off transistor TRA, relay PA remaining energized via TRB. The next closure of switch X1 earths the base of TRB to cut it off, and relay PA releases to disconnect earth from output OP. The next opening of X1 removes earth from relay PB which releases to restore the circuit to its initial condition ready for another cycle.
