Abstract

1,174,593. Bituminous sheeting. RUBEROID CO. Ltd. 2 May, 1967 [2 May, 1966], No. 19282/66. Heading B5N. A bituminous sheeting comprises a bitumen saturated fibrous layer coated on both faces with a filled bitumen and a loosely woven glass fibre fabric laminated to one face of the filled bitumen. The fabric may have an average of from 2 to 3À5 warp or weft threads per linear inch. The bitumen may contain a comminuted filler, e.g. fly ash, slate powder, limestone or asbestos which may be present from 10 to 70% by wt. of the filled bitumen. The fibrous base may be rag felt. The sheeting may be from 0-01- to 0-04 inch thick and have a weight of from 32 to 48 ozs. per square yard. The sheeting is used as slater's felt in roofing and may be coated with an anti-tack coating of soapstone or talc.
