Abstract
A bituminous composition comprises a blown bitumen of petroleum origin and a chlorine-containing polymer, e.g. polyvinyl or polyvinylidene chloride preferably in an amount between 3 and 15% by weight of the composition. Asbestos in amount between 1.5 and 12% of the weight of the composition may also be included together with an antimony compound, preferably the oxide, capable of reacting with the chlorine of the polymer. Fillers such as fly-ash and slate powder can also be included. The composition can be used to impregnate fibrous mats for use as roofing materials.
