Abstract

1,174,201. Fuel elements. EUROPEAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITY. 11 Dec., 1967 [13 Dec., 1966], No. 56257/67. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor pressure tube, the tube wall 1 is separated from the fuel elements, 4, by the thermal insulating material 2 and therefore operates at a lower temperature. The elements are disposed within channels, 3, formed between the insulating material, 2, and the core 8. Coolant flows axially along the channels over the element surfaces and between the channels through the axial passage ways &c. Each element is located by the centering fins 7. In an alternative form, a further thermal insulating is provided between the material 2 and the tube wall. 1,174,213. Counting apparatus. INTERCHEMICAL CORP. 22 March, 1968 [13 Nov., 1967], No. 14056/68. Heading G4D. The several constituents of a paint are added one by one to a tin placed on a stand. Before each constituent is added a crank 38 is turned to lift a strobe 85 and simultaneously to drive a counter (not shown) through a cone and idler mechanism 196 until the counter registers a number appropriate to the proportion of the constituent and the capacity of the container. The constituent is then added until it touches fingers 87, 88 of the strobe. The process is repeated for each constituent.
