Abstract

1,172,005. Gas burner. GAS COUNCIL. 8 April, 1968 [5 May, 1967], No. 21069/67. Heading F4T. A gas burner has a gas outlet slit 7 of width from 0À005 to 0À015 inch, and a first surface 10 extending at right angles to the slit wall for a distance of 0À05-0À15 inch to a second surface 11 at right angles to surface 10 and extending outwardly for a distance of 0À07-0À175 inch to meet a third surface 12 which is at an angle to the surface 11 such that a step is formed. In operation, gas is supplied via a supply pipe 1, a tube 3 and channels 8 and 9 formed in the tube to the slit and air is entrained with the gas on the latter emerging from the slit and blowing over the third surface after deflection over the step. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), gas is supplied via a pipe (28) screwed into the wall of a tubular body (16) and blows into a bore (17) in the body and through a slit 20 and over surfaces (26, 27) to a surface of a bore (24) in a bush (18) screwed into the body, these surfaces constituting the aforementioned first, second and third surfaces respectively. The gas is mixed with air in the bore 24.
