Abstract

1,169,616. Typewriters. OLYMPIA WERKE A.G. 8 March, 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 10961/67. Heading B6F. A power operated typewriter or accounting machine whose frame includes a hood 5, Fig. 2, hinged thereto and pivoted upwardly for maintenance or ink ribbon change is provided with an interlock comprising a draw bar 3 which co-operates with a toggle switch 7, 8a, 8 to lock the latter in the " off " position so as to prevent accidental actuation of the typewriter. In operation, on upward pivoting of the hood, a lug 3c integral with the draw bar 3 is drawn upwardly by a spring 4, Fig. 3, whereby the draw bar is caused to move forwardly (with respect to the switch) in conjunction with an inclined guide slot 3a which is engaged by a fixed pin 2 and, a further guide slot 3b having a right angled portion engages a pin 11 of the toggle switch to pivot the latter from the " on " position in Fig. 2 to the " off " position in Fig. 3. The knob 7 of the toggle switch cannot now be slid into the " on " operation. The interlock is released on closure of the hood 5.
