[Class 100 (iv)] In a tabulator device for typewriters and similar machines in which a series of column stops mounted on the carriage are individually settable for engagement with a tabulator stop 13, some of the stops, e.g. stops 6, 7, have projections 17, 18 in different positions so that all stops with similarly positioned projections can be simultaneously set by a hinged L-shaped bar 19 which is mounted on a shaft 20 movable in slots 22 for engaging the bar 19 with either set of projections. The bar 19 is operated by a finger-piece 21. All the stops are mounted on a bar 1 for backward and forward sliding movement, each stop being held in the non-operating position, Fig. 2, by a spring 3 engaging a notch 4, in which position a recess 16 in the stop registers with the tabulator stop 13. The stop 13 is raised into operative position by the actuation of a key. The clearing of all the displaced stops is effected by a hinged angle-bar engaging the back of the stops. If required, more than the two kinds of special stops may be provided, the projections of each set differing in position from those of the other sets.
