Abstract

1,163,156. Aerials. ELTRO G.m.b.H. & CO. GESELLSCHAFT FUR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK. 31 July, 1967 [5 Aug., 1966], No. 35101/67. Heading H4A. A Cassegrain type aerial comprises a main paraboloidal reflector HR, a sub-reflector GR, an open-ended waveguide feed H, and a coaxially mounted dielectric body L which is positioned between the feed and the subreflector adjacent the former and spaced from the latter. The body L may be a spherical lens, and may be constructed as a Luneberg type lens, having several shells with differing dielectric constants. The feed H may be extended into a horn, and it may be filled with dielectric material. The said material may have the same dielectric constant as that of the outer shell of the body L, and may be extended to be in contact with it, in order to prevent reflections in a gap.
