Abstract

1,160,959. Roof ventilators. GREENWOOD AIRVAC VENTILATION Ltd. and B. D. HUGHES. 30 Nov., 1966 [6 Dec., 1965], No. 51611/65. Heading F4V. An extractor roof ventilator is provided with two pivoted baffle/damper members 10 arranged along its length in passages formed between downwardly turned side pieces 6 of a top plate 5 and an upstanding wall 3 defining a main ventilation duct 4. In the baffle position shown the members 10 prevent the ingress of rain, and in the damper position they completely close the ventilator. The generally rectangular ventilator is formed from light sheet metal and has a base member 1 by which it may be secured to a roof. The top plate 5, with the downwardly turned side pieces 6 is supported by frames 7 and fixed to end plates 8. The damper members 10 are moved simultaneously so that in the closed position the lips 13 engages the lips 14 on the wall 3 and lips 15 presses against the side pieces 6. The structural parts may be welded or riveted together. The actuating mechanism comprises a linkage 20, 21 connected to the members 10 and to a nut 22 movable on a screwed rod 24 by a pulley and cord mechanism 25, 26.
