Abstract

1,173,836. Ventilators. GREENWOOD AIRVAC VENTILATION Ltd. 13 Sept., 1968 [18 Oct., 1967 (2)], Nos. 47443/67 and 47444/67. Heading F4V. A roof ventilator comprises a base 1, cap member 4 which may locate a dome or glazing panel, and uprights 6 of 45 degrees angle section which are provided with bearings for burners 20, the burners being connected together by a resilient linkage 70, Fig. 4, and operated by a cord 82. Some of the parts may be of extruded aluminium. The uprights 6 may be arranged as shown at A, Fig. 1, to form a corner post or may be arranged as shown at B, Fig. 1, to provide an intermediate support along a side of the ventilator. Plates 30, which may be of a plastic, are mounted on the uprights 6 and carry stub axles for the burners 20 and draught preventing flanges 32. A member 61 on each louvre provides an anchorage for a nylon rod 70 linking together adjacent louvres. An arm 80 on the rod is connected to the operating cord 82. The rod could, alternatively, be a spring or an arrangement of rods with a spring or resilient compressible means could be used. The resilience in the mechanism provides the over-centre snap action when the louvre is opened and closed.
