A preformed louvred ventilating frame structure for use e.g. with a glass domed ventilator of the barrel type designed to cover an opening at the ridge of a roof 2 between end walls 3, :comprises a base element 5 bolted to inserts 8 in a curb 4 around the opening and a plurality of inclined louvres 11 bolted at their inner edges to brackets 9 riveted to the base elements 5 and serving to support a cap element 10, the outer edges of the louvres 11 being bolted to a centrally disposed supporting strut 12 which engages under the outer lip of the cap element 10 and extends downwardly over a flange 5<SP>1</SP> of the base element 5. The preformed units may be made of any desired length, the number of brackets 9 and struts 12 being varied to ensure the necessary rigidity. The ends of two adjacent units are connected by means of a jointing element 20, Fig. 2, comprising inner and outer face plates 21, 22 joined by a member 23, the adjacent ends of the two units being inserted into and bolted to the opposed upright channels. Each end element 30 comprises two angle members 31, 32 joined by a channel member 23, the outwardly extending flanges being apertured at 33 for bolting to the adjacent end wall 3. The upper ends of the members 23, 23<SP>1</SP> are recessed for the reception of plates 40, 401 respectively which are disposed beneath the cap elements 10 to facilitate the anchoring of cleats 41, 41<SP>1</SP> for receiving the ends of glazing bars 42. Further anchor plates and cleats may be disposed between the ends of the assembly in which case registering apertures 45 are provided in the cap element 10. The flow of air through each unit is controlled by a panel 50 extending on the inside between the cap and the base elements and having apertures 51 each closable by a door 52 mounted on a vertical hinge 53, each door being connected to a control bar 55 by an arm 54. The bars 55 of adjacent units are linked together. Bird guards, when provided, are mounted on the brackets 9.
