Abstract

Valves.-In a two-stroke-cycle engine of the kind in which the combustible mixture is compressed in the lower end of the cylinder and passes to the upper end of the cylinder through passages 27, a cam-operated exhaust-valve 32 is combined with a piston 18 arranged to compress air in the lower part of the exhaust-valve casing. When the exhaust valve opens, the compressed air issues from a nozzle 33 and ejects the burnt gases.
