Abstract

123,398. Crossley, Sir K. I., and Webb, W. Le P. Feb. 21, 1918. CyLinders, construction of. - The engine has a rectangular waterjacketed combustion chamber A, in the walls of which are admission and exhaust valves G, H, as in the engine described in Specification 117,670. The invention consists in providing one or more fuel nozzles J in the back wall of the chamber which is semicircular in plan, instead of in a side wall. A compressed-air starting-valve may be situated in one of the walls. When the invention is applied to gas engines, igniters take the place of the fuel nozzles. Specification 2974/15, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], also is referred to.
