Abstract
1,160,363. Refrigerators. TAKENAKA KOMUTEN CO. Ltd. 27 Sept., 1966 [18 May, 1966; 1 June, 1966], No. 43022/66. Heading F4H. A thermally insulated enclosure comprises a frame formed by a plurality of parallel joists 1, vertical pillars 4 secured to opposite ends of the joists and arch beams 5 secured to the upper ends of opposed pillars 4. Panelling is applied to the frame to form the floor, walls and roof of the enclosure which is thermally insulated by panels (Fig. 4, not shown) or by a double-walled structure having foamed polystyrene or poly - urethane between its walls (Fig. 5, not shown). The panels consist of open frames filled with insulation, a first layer of such panels being secured to the frame and a second layer of panels having finishing sheets on their internal faces being attached to the first layer to cover the joists therein. The roof structure is spaced from the insulation and has a ventilating opening therein, the space beneath the roof being open to the atmosphere at the edges thereof. The roof and external walls of the enclosure may be corrugated with the corrugations arranged at right angles (Figs. 17A, or 17B, not shown) to facilitate such entry of atmospheric air. The joists 1 of the enclosure are secured to a foundation which may be a float.
