Abstract

1,157,195. Tables. C. E. GIBBS. 5 June, 1968 [14 June, 1967], No. 27449/67. Heading A4H. A table which can be adjusted in height comprises two vertical end panels 24 supporting a table top 12, and having two guide rails 26 which are slidable in two channels 17 in two vertical end panels 14 of a lower frame 10 resting on the floor. The table top is held in an upper position by a locking bar 13 loosely mounted in wedge shaped apertures 27 in the end panels 24 and urged by a spring 32 to enter recesses 19 in the side walls 18 of the channels 17. The spring is deflected from the locking bar by a cam lever 33 pivoted to one of the panels 24, and when the table top is lowered the tail of the cam lever strikes a beam 16 fixed to the lower frame 10 and the spring returns to engage the locking bar. When the table is lifted by raising the upper frame the latter entrains the lower frame by abutments.
