Abstract
1423835 Scaffolding RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS LTD 7 May 1973 [24 May 1972] 24375/72 Heading E1S [Also in Division F2] Scaffolding, e.g. for supporting floor shuttering, comprises at least two vertically spaced horizontal frames 10, 11, 12 each having at least three sides, vertical load-bearing members 15, diagonal braces 19 lying in vertical planes, and connecting members 16, 17 each of which connects a corner of a frame to at least one load-bearing member and at least one brace: each connecting member comprises a vertical sleeve 22 which receives adjacent ends of aligned vertical members, and carries two angularly spaced open-ended vertical sockets 23, 24 which each contain a movable wedge 25 and have a transverse aperture 29 through which a member on an end of a brace is inserted and secured by the wedge. Each connecting member also carries an upstanding lug 32 which engages under a corner of a frame. Connecting members at the top and bottom of the scaffolding may receive screw-jacks 33, 18. The members on the ends of the braces may serve to secure the vertical members to the connecting members, by extending through apertures 30 in the sleeves and engaging slots or grooves in the vertical members, and to secure the frames to the connecting members, by overlying brackets on the frame corners which engage over the lugs 32.
