Abstract

1,156,892. Disc refiners. BELOIT CORP. 3 Jan., 1968 [18 Jan., 1967],No. 391/68. Heading B2A. A disc for a defibrator is made of porous material and supplied with pressure fluid, e.g. water or bleaching agent from a tank 36, Fig. 2, via a rotary valve 32. The disc comprises a supporting plate 10 and a defibrating plate 12 of porous wedge-shaped segments 16. The plate 10 has a flange 24 to support the plate 12 and the segments have flanges 26 abutting to form cavities 28. Flanges 40. 42, Fig. 3, serve to equalize the pressure differences in the cavities due to centrifugal force acting on the fluid. The system prevents flooding of the refining area and excessive dissipation of heat needed for defibrating.
