Abstract

1,152,841. Handle attachment for portable vessels. M. DOUGLAS. 13 May, 1966 [13 May, 1965], No. 20181/65. Heading A4A. [Also in Division E2] Fastening means which may be used to fasten a handle to a cooking utensil, comprises two members 1, 2 one of which is formed with a slot 6 which opens to an edge of the member and is provided with a projection 8 adjacent the closed end of the slot, the other member 2 being provided with a boss 12 which carries a tongue 13 formed with an arcuate slot 14 which is concentric to the axis of the boss 12 and of which one end opens to an edge of the tongue whereby the two members may be connected together by locating the boss 12 in the slot 6 of the first member 1 and into abutment with the closed end of the slot and rotating the members 1, 2 relatively one to the other cause the arcuate slot 14 to traverse the projection 8 until the latter abuts the closed end of the arcuate slot. As shown, a spring- loaded locking bolt 15 housed within the member 2 is operative to positively lock the two members in their fastening position the bolt 15 itself being locked in its operative position by a manually operable screw 17 which passes through the bolt into a hole in the bolt housing. In another arrangement, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the projection on the member 1 is in the form of an arcuate flange (22) which is engageable with an arcuate slot (24), in a tongue offset but in the plane of the outer surface of a boss (12).
