1459219 Pot handles HEALEY MOULDINGS Ltd 20 May 1974 [13 April 1973] 17956/73 Heading A4A A handle assembly comprises a thermosetting plastics handle 11 and a moulded thermoplastics member 18 both having co-operating formations such that when the member is mounted in or on the handle it can be moved in the plane of the handle between an engaged position, in which it cannot be slidably disengaged from the handle in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the handle, and a released position in which it can be disengaged, the member able to receive a fastener to attach the handle to a pot e.g. a teapot. The member 18 is slid into a keyhole shaped slot 15 in the end of the handle 11, the member being an interference fit in the slot in the plane of the handle and undersized in the direction X. A screw 30 is inserted from the inside of the pot, through the pot, through an aperture 23 in the member 18 and the thread of the screw 30 engaged in a nut 33 located within a hollow at the rear of the member. Tightening the screw pulls the member in direction X and causes four ledges 24 on the member to engage rebates (29) on jaws 26, 27 thus preventing sideways sliding of the member. The face of tongue 22 then lies flush with the mouth of the handle. One or more members may be used per handle. The aperture 23 of the element may be threaded and no nut used. The nut may be placed inside the pot and the screw outside. Various shapes of screws and nuts are shown. A sealing washer may be provided to prevent leakage from the pot.
