ENTERPRISES]. 9 Dec., 1966, No. 55372/66. Heading A5R. [Also in Division A3] An abdominal belt, particularly for obese males, comprises a body portion 20, 21 extensible horizontally, an extensible band 29 sewn to the upper region of the front panel 20 and at its rear ends 33 to the rear panel 21 but free of the body portion between these points of attachment and lower bands 39 which are sewn to the edges 22 of the panel 20 and to the rear panel at 40 but are free between their ends. The panel 20 is preferably of two-way stretch material and is reinforced by an inextensible layer 23. The length of the bands 29, 39 in the relaxed state is less than that of the body portion between the rear points of attachment of the bands and the side edges 22 of the front panel. The rear panel is of less height than the front panel. A crotch pouch 54 is detachably secured to the belt by means of press studs (53) Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) at the front and straps 55 at the rear. Elastic straps 43, 45, Fig. 3, retain a sacroiliac pad 43a of e.g. foam rubber.
