Heading A5R. A sacro-iliac support belt is tensioned, after positioning on the body by means which shortens its effective length by drawing it into two transverse folds. The belt 4 is made from strong, flexible fabric and is fastened around the body by press studs 13, 14. At the rear portion a strap 41 is attached to a reinforcement 23 and runs freely through a metal loop 40 connected by webbing 32, 33 to a second reinforcement 20. This arrangement is duplicated, towards the other side, by a strap 42, secured to reinforcement 23 passing through loop 39 attached to the left-hand reinforcement 20 by webbing straps 30, 31. Tension is applied to the straps 41, 42 and they are fastened by a buckle 43 with the result that the points 16, 17, Fig. 2, are drawn together and the pad 27 is pressed against the spine.
