Abstract

1,152,044. Buckles. KANGOL HELMETS Ltd. 29 Sept., 1966 [1 Oct., 1965], No. 41786/65. Addition to 1020334. Headings E2A and E2B. A quick release two part buckle for joining the ends of a safety belt or the like has the cooperating parts so shaped that during the opening and closing operation the outer part pivots about the inner parts to give a toggle effect whereby tension on the belt or the like maintains the two parts more firmly in the closed position, the pivoting movement to open the buckle being resisted by magnetic attraction between the inner part which is made of steel and a permanent magnet 4 which is a loose fit in a stepped recess 3 in the outer member 1 and is maintained in position in the recess by a non magnetic cover plate 8 secured to the member 1 by two pins 9. A floating pole piece 5 at each end of the magnet 4 is stepped so as to project through a slot 7 in the cover plate 8 while being retained thereby.
