Abstract

Telephones for deaf persons.-A telephone receiver is made small enough to be placed in the ear and is provided with a grating x, Fig. 4, which prevents wax and dirt from passing into the diaphragm chamber. The inner pole of the magnet a, Fig. 2, is truncated and the other pole is threaded and provided with a milled head t. The diaphragm is formed by dipping a ring q having a sharp inner edge into collodion or a lacquer solution and allowing the liquid film so obtained to dry. A small iron armature r is then glued to the diaphragm. The core of the magnet may be made adjustable relative to the diaphragm. A microphone may be placed on the head t.
