Abstract

1,144,646. Load handling pallets. BOFFYN INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS Ltd. 28 June, 1966 [1 July, 1965], No. 27913/65. Heading B8H. A light-weight pallet comprises a sheet metal decking 1 forming an outer skin expanded and a metal inner skin 2. An expanded metal inner skin 3 covers the side members which have openings 4 for lift-truck forks. The pallet shell is assembled from a sheet metal blank, Fig. 2, and two expanded metal parts, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), all pressed in single pieces and then filled with a foamable synthetic resin mixture, which forms a solid foam substantially completely filling the space between the inner and outer skins, see Fig. 6. The resin, which is preferably polyurethane, is foamed in situ or prefoamed and pumped in under pressure. The pallet will float on water.
