Abstract

1314675 Moulding glass fibre reinforced pallets EVANS BELLHOUSE Ltd 10 Sept 1970 [17 Sept 1969] 45787/69 Heading B5A In a method of producing a pallet of expanded polystyrene having a reinforcement of a glass fibre open mesh web 3, a sheet of the glass fibre material is fed between the sections of a split mould, prior to moulding, the gauge of the web being such that it does not interfere with the mating of the mould sections, and the mesh size of the web being such that it permits passage through the web of the polystyrene bead moulding material; after moulding the excess reinforcing material protruding from the mould is removed. The pallet produced has a load bearing platform 1 and is mounted on nine box section legs 2. Alternatively, as in Figs. 4, 5, the pallet may have three legs 5 and a corrugated reinforcement 6, the corrugations extending transversely of the legs. Two parallel reinforcing webs may be provided (Fig. 6. not shown).
