Abstract

1327232 Laminates INTERLOCKING SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 11 Aug 1970 38676/70 Heading B5N A method of producing a rigid sandwich-like structure comprises progressively expanding a collapsed structure of sheet strips to produce a core defining transversely extending cells, progressively applying a pair of surface layers each comprising an outer sheet having on one face a foamable plastics material, to opposite faces of the core so that the foamable plastics material closes the ends of the cells and foams leaving within each cell a cavity between the foamed plastics material of the surface layers. The structure may be subsequently trimmed with removal of the outer sheets thus giving a rigid core. The sheet strips are preferably of polyetherresinimpregnatedkraft paper and the outer sheets are preferably of paper. The rigid core, obtained by removal of the outer sheets, may be sandwiched between sheets of aluminium or steel.
